The National child traumatic stress network

OUR MISSION is to raise the standard of care and improve access to services for traumatized children, their families and communities throughout the United States.

A traumatic event is a frightening, dangerous, or violent event that poses a threat to a child’s life or bodily integrity. Witnessing a traumatic event that threatens life or physical security of a loved one can also be traumatic. This is particularly important for young children as their sense of safety depends on the perceived safety of their attachment figures.

Whether it’s social media, virtual reality or the emerging metaverse, connected technologies bring us enormous advantages, along with some challenges. ConnectSafely’s job is to help users get the most from their technology while managing the risks and help decision-makers craft sensible policies that encourage both innovation and responsible use. ConnectSafely has been a leading voice for rational, research-informed policies — not “moral panics” — when it comes to dealing with challenges brought about by emerging technologies.

You may be eligible for help with crime-related costs after a violent crime. The Texas Attorney General’s Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) Program helps victims and their families by covering costs like medical bills, counseling, lost wages, and more to aid in your recovery. Understanding how the program works can help you navigate the process more easily. From eligibility to covered costs, knowing what to expect can make a difference.

the mama bear effect

The Mama Bear Effect is a nonprofit organization changing the way people think, talk, and respond to child sexual abuse. The Mama Bear Effect® was established in 2013 in response to the perceived need for down-to-earth awareness and prevention education that was not only accessible but inspiring. Child sexual abuse is not necessarily an epidemic because abusers are so effective at perpetrating, but because the taboo, and consequent discomfort and fear, hold protective adults back from being aware, effectively empowering children, and responding appropriately. Prevention education should be accessible & engaging During the initial months of our advocacy work, we found that there were many people who wanted to not only learn how to protect their children, but raise awareness within their own community. We made it our mission to create free downloads, social media PSAs, and low-cost printed materials to help others – from individual advocates to fellow nonprofits inspiring change within their communities.
